Sir      I should be glad to know what you are a doing.  I desired you to send me every week an Acct. of what Lead you have received and yet I am forced to write every Week for it - last Wednesday you said you expected to get all the Lead in that day or the day following and yet you have not made up your Tickets so that we cannot get a pay made tho’ all the Country is waiting for it.

Pray let me hear from you by the Bearer whom I have sent on purpose.        I am etc    HR

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
