To Mr Ralph Forster at Cambo Newcas. 2 Novemr 1770 Sir Sir Walter says he would not have any Lease of Chartners let; but the present Tenant to continue upon it at Will under the present rent. & that he would have Philip go and view the farm & see what is necessary to be ordered about not burning the Ling for the preservation of the Game and the Tenant must not burn any without Leave & he must or his herd or Undertenant must undertake to discharge any persons who come there ashooting. & if such regulations shall not answer the purpose of preserving the Game Sir Walter says he will take that farm into his own hand & and have nothing upon it but Moor game & a man to watch them. Sir Wr. says he has not any objection to the Exchanged Land at Ryal being let to the Tenant there. PS. It is possible Sir Walter may be at Wallington before Christmas therefore every Thing should be in order for him - & the Horses should be put into condition for a London Journey on a fortnights notice; of which you will acquaint the Coachman. I think you had best take Mr G Brown with you when you go to view the damage at Windyhirst & give him such directions as appear to you to be proper about filling up the holes made by the Masons in getting Stones for Hexham Bridge.
