Letter – Henry Richmond to Richard Wilson – 30 Dec 1768

Sir

I am glad the Difficulties, raised about the Bonds, are obviated; and that the Conveyance of East Kenton from Sir Wr Blackett to You is finished. I wish you a long Enjoyment of your purchase, & hope your fits of the Gout will never amount to more than presages of it. Mr Graham’s Article is only on Common paper, so I have sent you the form used here for Leases, which you may vary as you see necessary: and the engrossment may be made either here or at Leeds as you Chuse. for Mr Graham will make no Objection, I suppose, to what you may think right. The Magistrates of this Corporation are taking such measures to prevent future variations of their Bounder Stones as will put the Extent of their Jurisdiction upon a more certain footing. This Uncertainty being all the Evil Consequence that, it is supposed, can attend frequent removals of the Bounder Stones. However, the Alteration made at the last Riding in that part adjoining to You, was too trivial to complain of it being little more than Shifting a Stone further along the same Line.

Harle, the Quarry Man, desires to know, the next time you write, whether you will take the Slates, or allow him to sell them, as I mentioned in my Letter of 28 Octor last.
