Letter – Henry Richmond to Richard Wilson – 30 Oct 1767

To Richard Wilson Esq Leeds                                                             Newca[stle] 30th Octor 1767

Sir

In so large a remittance I think as you do that it is right to guard against Accidents as much as possible and therefore have talked over with the Gentlemen of our Bank what you mention of paying your Money into the hands of Glyn and Hallifax which they have agreed to and upon your letting me  know by return of the post that you will certainly do so they will empower Glyn and Hallifax to receive the £10000 for them and to draw a bill for it on them here payable at Sight to Sr Wr Blackett Bt or Order. This I suppose you will think safe as the Bank will not pay the money to any but me without particular directions. The Money should be paid into the hands of Glyn and Hallifax on or before the 13th of next month and then if their bill is sent down without Loss of time directed to Sir Walter Blackett Baro[ne]t in Newcastle he  will advise you or whom you please of the receipt of it. And this will enable me to receive the money of the Bank on the 18th as stipulated. I think there is not occasion for more than one bill for this money. You will please to let me hear from you by the return of the post and to direct your letter to me for the future under Cover To Sir Wr Blackett in Newcastle upon Tyne writing the word Free always under Tyne and then the Servant will know your Letters and prevent their travelling further. For they have taken it into their heads at the office at Weatherby to charge your Letters under a Notion that Sr Wrs residence is not at Newcastle & it is hardly worth troubling Sr Wr with a Complaint about it.
