                 In Weardale



 Sir    Sir Walter Blackett has been applied to for a contribution toward defraying the charge of building Mr. Somerville’s Presbyterian Meeting house in Weardale.  It is represented that this Meeting house is in the midst of many of Sir Wr.’s Miners, that are of the Church of Scotland, and therefore Sir Walter, willing to accommodate them with a place for orderly worship, rather than that Religion shod. be neglected among them, has ordered that you pay to the Trustees, or other proper persons , the sum of Ten Pounds, for the purpose above mentioned. The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
