To Mr Thomas Maughan at Newhouse in Weardale                          Newca[stle] 30th Octor 1767

Sir

I have fixed your pay to be on Wednesday the 11th of next month, so you will give Notice accordingly; and be here on Sunday Evening preceding, as usual; Receive the Money on Monday, go away on the Tuesday, and make your pay on the Wednesday and Allanheads on the day following.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
