To Sir Wr Blackett Baro[ne]t MP in Half Moon Street Piccadilly London Newca[stle] 1st April 1769 Hon[ou]r[e]d Sir Yesterday I received your Letter inclosing your Bond for Fifteen hundred pounds to Mrs Mary Loraine dated 28th instant; & wrote directly to Mr John Bell to acquaint her of it, with this money when received, & Mrs Browells £1500 in May, your Bonds to Mr Ald[erma]n Bell will be discharged. But I have no prospect at present of sufficient means to satisfy the ordinary payments till Midsum[me]r. I have 3000 p[iece]s of lead to sell but no body to buy it at present, & whether Commissions will come in time is uncertain. I have wrote him they will & so probably you will receive them soon if so, I think it would be right for Mr Darwin to send a Copy for your office here. The Intelligence Extraordinary about the B_k_r pink is thought to express the dissatisfaction of some patriots here, that expected greater matters from this Mayoralty; and have no other way of accounting for their disappointment, but by your Influence.
