Letter – Henry Richmond to Walter Blackett – 11 Feb 1770

Honrd. Sir           Mr Darwin writes that no more than £500 can be paid of the Money saved on transferring the Mortgage of Wallington  & that he hopes I may be able to do without that too; so I have been considering and find by postponing Dukesfield pay I may hold out till the purchase money for Woodcroft is to be paid,

    Mr Richd.  Brown says he has mislaid Simpson’s Note; but hopes to find it and in the meantime he has written me a Letter declaring he is convinced the Money lent on that Note was yours and that he has no demand on Simpson on acct of it & that he will readily sign a more formal declaration whenever you require him to do so if he does not find the Note.

    I hear Mrs Parker sate out this morning for London to solicite the Duke of Northumberland’s intst. [interest] for an Act for a Licensed play house in this Town.            I am etc         HR
