Sir George Brown of Fenwick has not been with me yet, about the Seizure of his Goods - which I see were valued at £200 more this time twelve Months than they are now. So that it is necessary to proceed to Sale, except he brings a Satisfactory Sum in Money before the five days are expired - which is not likely. I have wrote to Mr Forster and returned him the Schedule. I have acquainted the Mayor and Mr Clifton with that part of your Letter about the Beadman’s place. Mr Ford is not yet come; but the Card is left at Mr Bells, where he is expected to morrow. Dr Lambert is not in Town, but I expect to see him by & by, and will tell him of your getting on horse back; which I hope will be of Service to your Health. The Keelmen made an intire Stop on Monday; and to day they have laid off all the Collieries below Bridge and those above will share the same fate directly. the Grievance they alledge, is the loading Ships at the Steaths with Spouts, which they apprehend will increase in time; and render their fraternity in a great degree useless. The Mayor has sent for the Soldiers from the Barracks, as there is reason to fear the Contagion. PS. Mr John Smith is dead. Mr Westgarth is rather better; & has engaged Mr Westg[art]h Forster in your Service : who he says was very ready to enter into it. I shall give Mr Westgarth what you ordered: which will best be done through the hands of Mr Mason, as before. I am etc HR
