To Sir Wr Blackett Bt MP at his ho[use] 16th Feb[rua]ry 1767 in Half moon Street, Piccadilly London Hon[ou]r[e]d Sir I am sorry Mrs Marshall is so ill; for I fear it will be difficult to meet with so good a Life, & more so to settle the Value of it with the Bishop. Mr Peareth & Mr Walton examined the Computations of the profits of Weardale Mines previous to the last treaty with the Bishop in 1763 & I cannot think of any fitter persons for it now only as Mr Halhead is prejudiced ag[ains]t Mr Walton it may be as well to look out for another in his place. Mr Wm Brown I think will be unexceptionable, not only as he is conversant in computations of the like nature but also much relyed upon both by Mr Halhead & Mr Wilkinson, when they have occasion to employ him. If you approve of him I shall speak to Mr Peareth & him & as soon as the acco[un]ts are ready get them set to work unless I find Mr Brown has a General retainer from the B[isho]p w[hi]ch I do not apprehend. I shall send a bill for £200 to be due about the time you ordered. The hamper with the Acorns is come & will be sent to Wallington on Saturday & I will write to Mr Duffield about them ps inclosed I return the paper of the fines etc p[ai]d the B[isho]ps I am etc
