To Sir Walter Blackett Bart. MP, in Half Moon Street Newcas. 16 Janry 1770 Piccadilly London Hon Sir I have acquainted Mr Kay, Mr Charleton, Mr Snowden & Mr Sh<erid> that you desire to be excused from applying for the Tidesman’s place. I have told Mr Geo. Anderson that you have ordered the allowance of five shillings a week to be continued to him, which would otherwise have expired this week. Mr Collingwood is pretty well, he was at the Mayors yesterday and desired his Compliments to you; as does Dr Lambert for the Key of the <Mews>. The Guild tho very numerous was got over with better manners than expected owing partly to Mr Fawcett and partly to the example of Mr Matt Sadler, the principal orator, who is making his charge against Mr Peareth for incivil behaviour, when he waited on him with the petition, took care not to shew that he might perhaps have deserved it. It is not likely that the Keelman’s business will be adjudicated here - for the Fitters do not seem inclined to treat with Mr Harvey, & he I doubt has Influence enough with the men to prevent their treating with the Fitters without him, which is endeavouring to be brought about, by deputations from <cash work>. I have told Mr Blackett that you received his letter. P.S. I shall acquaint Mr Blackett with the contents of your letter this post about Geo. Anderson’s suit; which matter was not at all touched upon at the Guild & shall also acquaint Thos. Winship & George Young about the place. I am etc HR
