Hon[ou]rd Sir             Mr Maughan writes that at the meeting about the  division of Wolsingham Common their appeared a majority for having an Act this sessions; but he finds there is a strong party against it, who are determined to give all the opposition they can. Which way soever is determined cannot affect you much with regard to your Estate, as you will only get a small Allotment for a farm of 6d a year; and as to your priviledges as Moor master they are proposed to be secured by a clause of wch the inclosed is a copyand which is strong enough in favour of the Bishop But I think it would be an Amendment if your name could be inserted as Lessee for Lives of that office under his Lordship. For now you claim an Exemption from damages as incident to that office of Moor Master but perhaps as the clause now stands, in his Lordship’s name only, it may be found necessary hereafter to have new powers or grants from his Lordship to intitle you to the same exemption. But Mr Darwin can advise whether any such amendment is necessary or no.

The partnership Pay is to be made next Week; your half of which will be about £3000.
