Hon[our]d Sir        I hope you are well after your journey.

I acquainted Mr Ord with what you had settled as to the Bailifs place and he is very thankful, and I went on this dayse’ night to Mr Collingwood and he promised to make a draught of the instrument to be signed by Mr Heron; but he has not yet sent it.

 I have been at Wallington receiving the Rents; the Tenants paid up pretty well, excepting 3 or 4 of them, and the receipt amounted to £1680 but on the other Hand the allowances, & bills paid amounted to £859 odd, which is more than usual; and left me less to bring home than I had this time twelve months.

Mr Peareth says you will have £30, as Mayor, to dispose of at Christmas to poor freemen etc, please to give directions about it. Inclosed is Caleb’s Hunters Answer to John Renwicks charge.

J Collinson the Shipwright, whom you put into your Hospital very lately is dead suddenly and the vacancy will be filled up by William Woodifield the pavior, to whom you promised the first that should happen; unless you now please to order otherwise.

Mr Ellison has been here about his appointment, as Librarian; yesterday being Mr Brewsters last day but I have herewith inclosed it, because you intended to make some alteration and to grant the office only during his continuance in the curacy of St Nicholas. I am etc H R 

P.S. since I finished my Letter Mr Collingwod has sent me the dra[ugh]ts but he thinks it necessary for Mr & Mrs Rastel to join in the appoint[en]t; & as there are some blanks to fill up etc they cant be settled till I see Mr Heron & hear from Mr Bell, after that I shall send them up & Mr Darwin may ingross them if you think them right. Mr Ord said he w[oul]d write to you ab[ou]t speaking to the judge concerning his accounts.
