To Sir Wr Blackett Bt. M.P. in half Moon Street Newcas. 27 Febry 1771 Piccadilly, London Honrd. Sir Mr Busby has not had a university Education, nor can I find that his Abilities as a School Master are very Eminent - but he is regular industrious young Man, of a good person & Countenance , his Air and Carriage grave: tho there is an Affectation in him that is disagreeable, & which spoils a good voice and Utterance he otherwise would have. he was lately ordained Deacon. is married with a Child or two - this is all I can learn of him, except what Mr Wood wrote to Mr Blackett & which he said he would send you yesterday. Mr Maughan says there is nothing particular in Weardale except that Dawson’s Grove, which was sick a few Weeks ago, is now poor again. There was no Lease executed, between the Bishop of Chester and you, for the Tithe Ore. & as to the Article, the Recorder says, such a One will bind your Executors. All the Wallington Leases are in Mr Forsters hands, and he is now at Berwick. When he returns I will send One. Since he and Mr Bell went thither, I have heard of a Bill intended for parliament this Sessions for making Turnpike roads in the County of Berwick, which will include the great Coal-carriage-roads from Unthank Scremerston etc - having an opportunity today, I have sent to them; desiring they will inform themselves whether such an Act would be beneficial to your Estate in that Neighbourhood, or otherwise.
