Letter – Henry Richmond to Walter Blackett – 27 Mar 1771

Honrd. Sir      Mr Gibson cannot recollect your giving Him Judge Gould’s paper about the Laws for apprehending Offenders on the Borders of England and Scotland  -  I have found the inclosed, which I suppose has been copied from that paper, tho I am not sure of it; as no Minute had been made how I came by it, nor do I recollect what became of the Original.

     Mr Busby has had a Letter from Mr Clapham last post about the Nomination of him to the Curacy of Hexham; with directions how to proceed to carry the same into Effect  -  he does not propose going to Hexham directly, so I shall keep your Card to the Trustees of the School till I understand whether the Message Mr Bell delivered them from You will be sufficient or not.

     I am told, Linen for Sheeting may be had here of Sufficient Fineness; but the Choice of Fine Table Linen I doubt will not be so great here as in London.   Whether Holland is so necessary now that the Scotch and Irish have brought their Manufactures to such perfection I cannot say.
