To Sir Wr Blackett Bt MP in half Moon street Newca[stle] 28th Febr[uar]y 1767 Piccadilly London Hon[ou]r[e]d Sir Inclosed is my bill on Plumb & Browne for Two hundred pounds which please to advise the receipt of I sent Yesterday Morning by the Fly Coach the plan of Hexham bridge; which Mr Heron told me I was to do, and paid the Carriage of it. Mr G. Cuthbertson has Subscribed Ten Guineas towards the bridge. The Man, Major Carr had hired as Butler for Mr Blake is much such a person as Mr Greenwood; tho Younger & more Active: he says he is 36 years of Age and has very good health - he has an Excellent character from Capt[ai]n B<osies> & Major Carr gives him a very good one – he agrees to be on the same terms as Dodds was, and to wait at the Second Table. He is married, but has only one child; who is put out Apprentice & he will wait for an Answer. Mr Bacon’s proportion of Weardale rents for the 4 Years past, which comes to £315 6s 8d, is at last paid; and his Agent tells me he will be ready for a partnership pay in April: & about the same time, or sooner, your Lead Mill pay must be made; which will, I think, make It impossible for me to pay the purchase money for Hawick: as I have sold no Lead yet. Mr Wm Brown says he is a servant of the Bishops & cannot meddle in the Calculation – Mr Peareth thinks Mr Jno Cookson who is partner with Sir Edwd in Fallowfield is a proper person & that he will not have any Objection to the Employment: so if you please I shall speak to him.
