To Sir Walter Blackett B[arone]t at Wallington Newcas[tle] 28 Octo[be]r 1766 Hon[ou]rd Sir Mr Blackett says he has to write you today about the meeting next Monday; being the first in the month; and also that Mr Smeaton will be in town on that day & that he will send you at the same time Mr Holmeās Letter. Miss Ilderton expressed herself much obliged to you for your offer of the tithes; and as she expects to see her brother at the fair, who I find is interested in the Estate, she desires till Saturday to return an answer. Mr Walton was not in town today. Messrs Kent & Lockley will come to Wallington tomorrow. I called at Wolsington about the chimney Doctor. Mr Bell said he had not cured his chimnies; only made them a little better- that his price is half a guinea a chimney & that he does not know where he is now. But if you chuse to try him I shall probably find him out in a few days. Bowlt is determined to undergo the operation; & it wo[ul]d have been done before now, but for a looseness he has got- tomorrow is fixed for it, if nothing prevents. By a Letter from Mr Jno Bell, I find, that Mr Leeke, who is at Hexham is under difficulty about stabling for his horse while he stays there; & proposes if you would let him a stall in the Abbey, to find corn & hay for it. But as there are many public houses in Hexham, I should think his horse might be guaranteed at one of them well enough. I am etc HR
