Inclosed is Bell Cookson & Cos bill on Glyn & Hallifax for £500 payable 25 days after date w[hi]ch please to advise the receipt of. Inclosed under this & another Cover is the case concerning Mr Ridleys claim to the coal in Thorneley, w[hi]ch I forgot to give you; & w[hi]ch I sho[ul]d think will satisfy him that he has no right exclusive of the other Lords. Inclosed also is a Copy of the Case concerning the poor cess demanded for Weardale Mines with Lawy[e]r Fawcets opinion thereon, that you are not liable to pay any. We have found by the Registrar at Bolam, where the Smiths family lived before they went to Hawick, that James Smith, the son of Thos Smith was baptized there the 2d April 1674: w[hi]ch clears up the doubts about the Thos Smith named in the recovery in 1727. So the writings will now be got forw[ar]ds with as fast as possible. ps I cannot find out Wid[o]w <Kenedy> that you gave me a mem[oran]d[u]m about I am etc HR ps I am told Mr Bacon is dead. £500 Newcastle Bank 28 April 1767 Twenty five days after date pay to the order of Mr Henry Richmond Five hundred pounds value received.
