To Sr Wr Blackett Bt at Wallington Newca[stle] 31st Octor 1767 Hon[ou]r[e]d Sir Mr Peareth has enquired after the younger Mr Bonnell & his Acco[un]t is that he lives with his Mother & Brother at Sunderland – is about 19 years of Age – has something genteel in his person & manner – behaves very well, & since his Master failed & they separated by Agreement, the Young man has applied himself to Writing, Arithmetic & Book keeping; and the person he learns with gives him a good Character & expects he will be fit for an Office or Shop against Christmas. But I find Mr Peareth does not think it will be easy to meet with an Employment for him in that way soon in Sunderland. Mr Sunderland says that Mathew Adamson, Boatman at Howden panns, upon this Establishment, is dismissed; & that the first Lord of the Treasury is to be applyed for it. Robert Wilson was the person that Mr Scott & Mr Cramlington recommended. Ald[erma]n Scafe is a good deal better & desires his Comp[limen]ts to you. I sent the five Guineas worth of Silver by Mr Forster yesterday. P.S. the pays will be the 11th & 12th of next month and the Stewards will be here for the Money on Monday Se’[ven]night the 9th. The pay bills amount to £17290.18s.10d, Inclosed is a Copy of the Advertisement which was inserted in all the news papers for the Sale of the part of Fenwick which Sr Edwd Blackett has bought. The word messuage means the house Garth etc. But I have wrote to Mr Darwin for a Copy of the Deed of Sale to Sir Edward by which it will appear what he is to have. I am etc HR
