To Sir Wr. Blackett Bt. M.P. in Half Moon Street Newcas. 4 April 1770 Piccadilly London Honrd Sir Mr Hedley says you positively refused doing anything for Miss Ords in respect of the Gaolers place when he applied to you about it & is satisfied you never would make such a public declaration as is charged in the Anonymous Letter - he thinks you only said in general terms you should be glad to do any Service you could, but that the putting a person in to execute That office for the benefit of Mr Ords family was a plan you did not approve of - he is of opinion that the Advertisement would occasion a general condemnation of the Miss Ords and wishes for their Sakes that you would not publish it nor take any further Notice of the Letter. he declares he does not know the Author nor can think who it can be, Mr Sunderland says there is a vacancy of a Boatman’s place on the Establishment, by the death of John Bruce on Sunday Senight. Jos. <Soulisby> the Cooper got a Tidesman’s place last week by Mr Ridley’s Application. As to Henry Forster he is a very fit man for this Vacancy being a Boatbuilder and a Seaman. I shall not insert the Advertisement without your further Order and am etc HR
