Hon[ou]rd Sir     The appraizing of John Donkins Goods prevented my attending the meeting for the Lunatic Hospital ; but I am told that a Resolution was come to of collecting in the annual subscriptions & fitting up the House wch was the old Infirmary, for the reception of Lunatics as soon as possible.

Mr Collingwood apprehending he will not be well enough to go to Hexham on Monday next to hold Hexham Courts, sent for Mr Ord and me yesterday to Chirton, & it is settled I think much to his satisfaction, that in case he is not well enough to morrow, Mr Wilson is to go.

Mrs Ridley, of Heaton, died yesterday.

Your pew at St Andrews has suffered a second time; and is shipt of all the blue cloth. Mr Thomas Gunn’s pew suffered at the same time; but the Offender was taken almost in the Fact, by some of the Bailiffs Attend[an]ts who saw him coming out of the church yard with the Cloth & they carried him this morning before the Mayor, who comitted him to Newgate.
