Letter – Henry Richmond to Walter Blackett – 5 Dec 1766

Wallington                                                                  Newcastle 5th December 1766

Hon[ou]rd Sir     Mrs Collingwood of Chirton died yesterday of a cholical disorder; after 3 or 4 days illness: & is to be buried on Monday next at 3 o’ clock, at All Saints church; the corpse being to be brought to his house in Pilgrim Street against that time.

Mr Collingwood has sent to desire you will be a Bearer, if it is convenient to you & would wish to have an answer by Sunday’s post.

Dr Hall tells me that there is room in the Lunatic Hospital & that Joshua Forster may be admitted; only it will be necessary for you to execute a Bond for the payment of the usual sum for maintaining him in the house which I think is 5s a week which if you think proper  to do I shall get the secretary to prepare one.

If Capt[ai]n Roddam should make any further difficulties about his part of the tithe of Ilderton parish I believe there is a person ready to give the same sum you have offered them for to him or perhaps more.

P.S. The person I mean is Mr Ilderton the attorney: but he wo[ul]d not chuse to have his name mentioned: unless you were at liberty for a treaty. Since the above I have received the inclosed letter from Mr Collingwood. I am etc   HR
