To S[i]r Wr Blackett Bt at Wallington Newca[stle] 6 Augst 1767 Hon[ou]r[e]d Sir Col[one]l Maddison esqr commanding officer; but he happens to dine at Shields today. I have sent a Card to invite him & the Corps on Monday & Evans will wait his coming home this Evening & get an answer to it, w[hi]ch I will acquaint you of in a postscript. the Cook should come here tomorrow night. I have settled with Mr Liddell, and inclosed are the Schedules of the plate, w[hi]ch you sent me. Inclosed is a Letter w[hi]ch I received by this days post from Mr Wilson in answer to the offer made him of East Kenton for £24000; of which £10000 to be p[ai]d on 18 Nov next & the rest to continue in his hand under the Mortgage; w[hi]ch he says he agrees to. I saw Mr Forster of Laverick hall on Tuesday who seems to be a sensible active healthy Man, tho inclined to fat: he took till to day to consider with his family about offering himself to your service, exclusive of all other employm[e]nts, at £100 a y[ea]r & has been with me this Evening to tell me he will wait upon you when you please, in order to see whether you will accept of him. I have told him you will be in town on Monday & he proposes to be here at that time I am etc HR P.S. <7th> day inclosed is Col Maddison’s Card that he & the Officers will wait upon you on Monday – there will be Ten of them, but I can’t get their Names till tomorrow. The Mayor, the Sherif & the Vicar will wait upon You.
