To Sir W[alte]r Blackett B[arone]t at Wallington Newcastle 7th July 1765

Hon[ou]rd Sir According to the present price & prospect 46s a bing wch you have already offered Sir Lan[celot] Allgood is the full value of his ore & of all the Silver in it, for tho[ugh] his ore yields pretty well in Silver yet it is so difficult to flux into Lead that nobody that knows the quality of it will give more than you have offered, that is 46s. a bing. The Tryal wch I make my computation upon was of some of S[i]r Lan[cello]ts ore from Blackhall mill whither it was sent to be smelted on his own acco[un]t & consequently as much pains as possible wo[ul]d be taken with the washing it. If less sho[ul]d be taken after it is sold more Bings will be requisite to make a fother of Lead; & in that case whoever sho[ul]d buy it even at 46s a bing w[oul]d be a loser. Therefore if Sir Lan[celot]: sho]ul]d sell it you at 46s a bing he must engage that the ore shall be wellwashed.

I shall speak to my brother about Robson’s burning the Ling. The 24th June is by the Alteration of the stile become the 5th July. I am etc HR
