Sir  I rec[eiv]ed your Letter of the 8th instant inclosing me Mr Sam[ue]l Savages receipt for four hundred and ninety five Pounds for half a y[ea]rs int[e]r[es]t due 6th Novem[be]r last which I have given you credit for. I have also given you credit for one hundred and forty pounds for Mr Glover’s receipt for the ½ y[ea]rs int[e]r[es]t due to him and Mr Viner the 27th Septem[be]r last, which I rec[eiv]ed in your Letter of the 1st Novem[be]r last and thought I had advised you of by the return of the Post.

As to the Copyhold part of Woodcroft Estate, it lies so intermixed with the freehold part that I believe they must be sold together, or not at all: But I shall be able in a few posts I hope to write with more certainty, as I expect to hear soon from the Steward of the Estates in that part about it. And as to the surrender I wrote immediately on the receipt of your Letter, with the extracts from the title deeds, to Mr Chris[tophe]r Johnson the Steward of the Halmot Court to search for the surrender from Dr Smith and if he can find any such thing to find me a copy of it; as soon as I hear from him you shall know what he says.

I shall remember to give Sir Walter the assignments you mention when he returns again to Town after Christmas. I am etc.    Hen Richmond
