To Mr Wm. Alvey Darwin Newcas. 16 May 1770 Gray’s Inn London Sir Inclosed I send you Bell Cookson & Cos. bill on Glyn & Hallifax for four hundred pounds payable at 20 d[ays] from 11 inst. Sir Wr Blackett bid me send you a bill for this Sum in May to enable you to discharge some tradesmens bills that he left unpaid. So you will please to place the same to his Credt. in your Acct with him & send me a Receipt accordingly to be a voucher for this payment. As I supposed the purchase Money for Hexham Ferry is now sought after. So I shod be glad to have the Conveyance compleated & the deed sent down with full directions to whom I am to pay the money & whose receipt I am to have for it - for I imagine there will be a claim of interest for the Delay. Mr Ward has not yet paid his purchase money for Woodcroft. Mr Johnson has been with me again & I think I have made him sensible of Mr Wards illtreatment of Sir Wr. & of the inconvenience he has put me to by the disappointment; wch I hope will hurry him a little. he talks of paying the money in ten days. pray should not he pay intst. for the money withheld? & after what rate?
