To Mr Alvey Darwin Newcas. 23rd Novr. 1771 Greys Inn London Sir Sir Wr. Blackett is so hurried that he desires me to write you in Answer to what you say about Mr Cooksons wanting his £100 that he would have it raised out of the India bonds he purchased in May last & desires you will send him a proper instrument for the sale of so much of them & then Mr Cookson may have his Money as soon as he pleases or his occasions require. We have had on the 17th instant a greater Inundation of the Tyne, the Wear & the Teas than I believe ever was before. Hexham bridge is intirely gone & so the Arches of the Tyne bridge here; in short all the bridges on the Tyne are broken but Corbridge & that is damaged. the Damage & Desolation exceeds my description so I refer you to the inclosed Newspaper. The Chancery Suit between the Lords of Winlaton & Mr Silvertop being as I wrote you put into the hands of Mr John Wright Att[orne]y in this town I have spoke to him to employ you as Sollicitor in it wh[ic]h he has promised to do. Surely my Brother has met with something Extraordinary in London that makes him turn his back of business here. What his Schemes are I know not, but I fear they will never compensate his Loss of business. Sir Wr. is well & I am etc HR
