To Mr Darwin Greys Inn London Newca[stle] 26 June 1769 Sir The Bishop of Durham is patron of the vicarage of Hartburn. What you mention about the Grant of 6 James 1st whereby the Rectory et Decimas garbarum passed to the parson under whom the Com[missione]rs of Greenwich hospital claim I think is of Consequence and ought to be stated fully in the Case. A Rectory, I suppose, may consist of Glebe and Tithes; or it may not have either, but annual payments in lieu thereof so it seems a vague Term as to Temporalities and may receive the definition of its rights from the words, et decimas garbarum annexed. I think as to your Superscriptions you had better keep to the Method last year of writing the word free under Tyne w[hi]ch is used by others known by our Letter carrier. I am etc HR
