To Mr Darwin Greys Inn London Newcas. 26th March 1771 Sir Agreeable to your Letter of the 13th instant advising me that you had received Sr. Mw. Featherstonehaugh’s £66 . 13s . 4d & Sir J Salisbury’s £33 . 6s . 8d being the Remainder of their Subscriptions to Hexham Bridge & that you had placed these two Sums amounting to One Hundred pounds to Sir Walter Blacketts Accot. and that he had allowed me to draw upon you for it - I say agreeable to this Letter & Allowance I have this day drawn a Bill on you for this One Hundred pounds payable to Messrs. Bell Cookson & Co. or Order Ten days after the Date hereof which I desire you will accept & place to Accot. with Sir Walter Blackett. A Defect in the Title of the Estate on wch the £400 trust Money in your hands was to be lent & which cannot be made good till after the 2nd of next month makes me postpone drawing on you for that Sum a few days longer. P.S. A Bill is ordered by Sr Wr. to be filed ag[ains]t some Abstractors from Hexham Mills w[hi]ch being put into Mr Heron’s hands as Bailiff of That Manor he will write you something soon about Sir Thos. Wentworth whether he is to be made Co[m]pl[ainan]t or a Def[endan]t as he formerly was in this Cause. I am etc HR
