To Mr Darwin Grays Inn Newcas[tle] 5th June 1765 London Sir I have received of Mr Greenwell the three pounds nine shillings and four pence for Roger Crosby’s out rent according to his receipt which you sent me and have placed the same to your credit. Dr Brown, Vicar of Newcastle, lays claim to the petty tithes of West Kenton which belongs to Lawyer Wilson of Leeds; who apprehends that the modus of 13s.4d which is paid by Sir Walter Blackett to the Vicar for the petty Tithes of East Kenton will cover West Kenton Estate also the two Estates having as he supposes been held originally under one title. For satisfaction in this point he has asked Sir Walter to let the title deeds of his part of Kenton be examined by any council or persons in Law employed by Sir Walter; being willing to pay all expence attending the same. Sir Walter therefore desires you will examine the abstracts and let either Mr Wilson or me know how it appears to you. And as Mr Wilson is to pay for this examination I desire you will let me know, after it is made, what he is indebted to you for it. I am etc HR
