To Mr Darwin Grey’s Inn London Newca[stle]7th Decemr 1768 Sir I received your Letter that Sir Walter desires me to acquaint you what is done about the Conveyance of East Kenton. On the 21st of Septemr I gave the dra[ugh]t of it, as it had been settled by Mr Banks and you, to My Brother to be engrossed; not apprehending any thing further was to be done. But he objected to the Mode of it and wrote to Sir Walter that some hazard would attend the letting his bonds for the two £7000 to the Mortgagees of the Estate stand out against him. Sir Walter therefore ordered Mr Wm Wilson’s opinion to be taken, which concurred with the Objection made by My Brother. On the 26th of Octor my bro[the]r returned me the draught and the proposed Alterations and Mr Wilson’s opinion with a Close Copy pursuant thereto: all which on the 28th of that Month I sent to Mr Wilson of Leeds; since which I have not heard any Thing about this business, further than that he received the papers very safe. Whether he is displeased with the Alterations, or what else occasions the delay, I cannot imagine! Inclosed is Mr Hudsons bill on you for three pounds five Shillings & Six pence payable to myself or order; at Sight. I have endorsed a receipt upon it and made you Deb[to]r to me for it; you wil please to advise me of the receipt of it and that you have placed it to my Account.
