In Westgate                                                                         Newcas[tle] 14th May 1766

Sir          I here send you an acco[un]t of Mr Forsters proportion of the rents etc for Weardale mines for the last year, and also a general acco[un]t of what he owes Sir W[alte]r Blackett in the whole, for these rents etc, to wit £315.6s.8d. and I beg you will please to acquaint Mr Forster of this debt and of the propriety of discharging it. I am etc.             HR

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
