To Mr Wm Westgarth at Coalcleugh                                         Newcas. 8th Decr. 1771

Sir

  I am sorry you have had so severe a fit of Illness but glad you are now better.  Your not being able to at the time appointed to settle your Account will be inconvenient – however as there is no difference between the draught you sent & my Acct. but in Reay & westgarths & Jonan Kitsons Articles for Candles (each of which are only 149.5.0 instead of £150 4s 6d) if you alter these Articles & insert 4456 recd of me the 16 instant and send a receipt for that Sum it will make your pay and leave you £250 for subsistence for a double lodging . & the balance of your general account will be £817.2s 113/4 d including the Arrears only you must strike out the 02d in <Assb.> Surtees &. Cos £53.1.7.  So you will settle your general Acct. accordingly & sign it & send it along with the receipt in which you will take Care to express that the money is reced of Sr Wr Blackett by my hands
