To Mr John Maule,



Sir

      Your favour of the 9 Decem had the misfortune to be misplaced or had been answered in course before, which I am sorry for considering it may rtard the forwarding the accot.

      If you will consider & compare the halfe years rent from Martinmas 1738 to Mayday 1739 & the halfe year as from Mayday 1739 & Martinmas 1739 I hope you will find it right for our acct as its stated consists of halfe a yrs R[en]t out of the Rental of 1738 & halfe a yrs Rent out of the renta; for 1739 vizt

      The £2 difference in Dilston is occasioned by Dilston Hall being let the year 1738 at £6 and for 1739 at £10 a year.

      The 5s in Langley Barony is also occasioned by John Gunson being 5s in 1738 and 17s in 1739. Mr Thompsons £21 was pd him 16 Octr 1739 & is included in our Conting.t Article No. 6 £187 19.

      I hope you will get forward with the acct as soon as possible. I am very senceable of the Labour & fatigue you have but when Mr Walton comes home who is now abroad I hope we will consider this your trouble &c wch we shall be no aport or two. I am for him & selfe
