Inclosed you have the Month Acco[un]ts for the several Mills – We have been lucky in getting the piece of Oak for the Axle-tree to the Mill for I find that the People of the Steel Forge had their Eyes on it. Mr Hurry said that he had to call upon you for some wood that went to Blaydon & would expect them to receive for the Axle tree we have got, its 128 f[ee]t and he would not take anything less then 5s p[er] Foot  -  32£. I am

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
