Mr. Thos. Maughan N.House

Dr. Sr.

The Small quantity of Ore sent f’m Sedling to this Mill is very badly dressed; I cannot say that whats gon to Rookhope Mill this Summer is so well as it ought to be, tho far superior to that sent here, its little better than Ore Tails. I beg you’ll order that no more be sent till better dress’d and that the Ores to be sent to Rookhope may also be made as clean as possible before they are taken f’m the Groves & am

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the generous support of other sponsors. Friends of the North Pennines: Charity No:1137467
