Dear Sir

       I have communicated the Contents of your letter of the 2d. Inst: to the Bankers at this place, the house of Sir Wm. Loraine & Co. is willing to transact the business  of Col. Beaumont here, but requests that he or you will name the terms on which you wish his Account to be kept by them with the deposit you propose allowing them; as you best know what Sums are intended in future to remain in the hands of Mess. Ransom & Co., when they will give an answer.   Inclosed you have (in margin Bill sent No.371) their draft on Mess. Veres & Co. for £2,000 - -on Col. Beaumonts Account I am sorry to say I will not have it in my power to remit you any further Sums on his Account for some time in consequence of the advance Subsistence Money being continued to his Workmen at the Mines & the very large Sums he as locked up at this place.   The Tyne Iron Co. propose to pay ½ the amount of their Bills on the 5th. Oct. the remainder at the end of 3, 8 & 12 Months after that date with Interest, the former part of which I have thought it prudent to accept of, for the Bill you left here; the remainder I conceive the house of Surtees’ & Co. liable to, not having had any concern with the Iron Co., and which must be paid off at a much earlier period than that they propose    I am &c.
