Dear Madam

      I am this Moment favoured with your Letter of the 26thInst. & am much concerned to find that the Bank of Loraine & Co. not having on my first Application consented to discount my Bills at 6 Weeks Date for £8,000-0-0 should have been the Occasion of so much Trouble & Confusion; however my Letter of the 26th would inform you that they had agreed to do it, & I have accordingly this day drawn two Bills on Messrs Glyn & Co of £4,000 each at 42 Days date, & two Bills of £4,000 each, at sight, payable to Messrs Loraine & Co.

	The Lead Agents have been with me all this Morning & I shall proceed with them Tomorrow to the Lead Pay. 	Mr Bowns came late yesterday Evening, & I have had some Conversation with him respecting this Pay& other Matters; this unpleasant Business of the Purchase of the Steel Hall Estate may make it necessary for me to draw on Sir R[ichar]d Glyn & Co. for £1,000 or £2,000 but that I shall not do without the Approbation of Mr Bowns; it is now ten o’Clock in the Evening & he has not finished his Business with Burdon’s Bank on which Business I must refer you to Mr Bacons.  This very unpleasant Matter respecting the Sale of the 3 percent Stock vexes me much, but I have not been the Occasion of it; I have been engaged in this Business solely from nine o’Clock this Morning till ten at Night w[hi]ch has fatigued me very much.
