Mr Isaac Hunter

      This will be delivered to you by Mr Robert Mulcaster who by the particular directions of Col. & Mrs. Beaumont comes up to Dukesfield to inspect the Works & to make such remarks as he may think necessary, as to the conducting of the same, as well as to the Carriage of the Lead & I am directed by them to acquaint you that they expect that you, as well as the Workmen give him every information that you can as to the matter &c. and that you may follow such advice as he may from time to time give you respecting the same; & I beg leave to recommend it to you to join cordially with him in this business which is so much the wish of Col. & Mrs. Beaumont

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
