Mr Isaac Hunter at Dukesfield Newcas. 30th July 1776 Sir I received your Letter of the 27. instant inclosing the Substance of the Examination of Sundry Persons in regard to the Fire at Rookhope Mill on the 25 & 19th instant both which I have communicated to Sir Wr Blackett who approves of what you have done & desire you will use every means to discover the persons who have been concerned in this affair I hope Mr Smith & all the Smelters will be active in their Endeavours on this Occasion I have sent you by the Hexham Post who is the Bearer of this a parcel of hand Bills which you will please to dispense in that Neighbourhood &have some of them put up at the Church Door, the Mill & what other places you think proper I hope you’ll be able to give us some further Information of the Offenders when you come to Town next Week. P.S. I think it will be adviseable to continue the Watch; but pray have you not cause to Suspect the persons who were interested with that Business _ I am etc J. E. B.
