      I received yours of the 22d. Inst: and observe what you say respecting the disposal of Lead – The Lead I dispose off is all delivered at this place and shipped at the risque and expence  of the Purchaser, I have never yet consigned Lead to any Port for sale, and have only a small quantity on hand at present.   I must of course decline complying with your request I am obliged by your favoring me with the Price of Lead at your Market  & am Sir &c.  J:E:B: 

The selling price of Lead at this Market is for Refd Lead £34.  Comon Lead £33 – p[er] Fod. of 21 Cwt. Lith[arge] £34.10.. p[er] Ton – very little at Market and a prospect of an advance.

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
