Sir       I wrote to you the 7th inst. to which I refer you, I am since favoured with your letter of the 2nd inst. & observe that there has been some neglect in the Post Offices of Hull or this place wch has occasioned the delay of this letter.  I intend being at Sir Thomas Blackett’s next week & shall with him attend the Meeting at Middleham on the 29th inst. agreeable to the Notice that I received from Mr John Breare  Secry. to the Mineral Society. I am much obliged to you for the advice that you have given me.                             I am etc    John E. Blackett

The Dukesfield Smelters and Carriers Project aimed to celebrate and discover the heritage of the Dukesfield Arches & lead carriers' routes between Blaydon and the lead mines of Allendale and Weardale. A two year community project, it was led by the Friends of the North Pennines in partnership with Hexhamshire and Slaley Parish Councils and the active support of Allendale Estates.
