Sir John Trevelyan Barot. Newcas. 16th February 1779 Half Moon Street London Dear Sir I have your Favours of the 24th Ult. & 3rd inst. I observe what you say with respect to Ord Estate & do not find that the Sale of West Ord would prejudice the Sale of Middle Ord or the Fisheries for Care will be taken that the latter shall enjoy the same privileges they have done. Mr Selby was asked 5000 Guineas for West Ord which he does not seem inclined to give. Mr. John Ord made some Enquiry about that Estate and as you have drop’d the Price I think it would be right for you to make him an Offer of it agreeable to the inclosed paper. Inclosed you have Messrs. Bell Cookson & Cos Bill on Castell & Co. dated 2nd instant at 30 days for £200 to pay for the late Sir Walter Blacketts Monument the Sketch of which I return you & think it will be neat & handsome Mr. Trevelyan has been with me I find he is desirous of purchasing that part of Longwitton Estate adjoining Netherwitton but at the same time he expects a considerable Abatement on acco[un]t as he says of the very bad Condition of the Land etc etc . He likewise made some Enquiry about the price fixed on Ord Estate and desired we would not dispose of it till we heard from him. Inclosed I send you a Bond filled up for £845.12s.4d for Sir Thomas Blackett to sign when he comes to Town there will be a Receipt on the back of Mr. Fawcett & Mr. Wilsons Award for that Sum which you must sign. You have likewise a Sketch of your Affairs which I hope will be satisfactory for the present. I expect to pay off about £2000 more this year & remit you a Thousand Pounds should you have occasion. You will please to observe that the price fixed on Ord Estate is the very lowest and as to the Valuation you may shew it to Mr. Ord or not as you think proper: I believe it to be a very reasonable one. Mr. <Wooler> will be in Town in about three Weeks I shall send by him some Deeds to be executed by you & the Gold Coins. I can’t go to Wallington till the beginning of next month when with your Permission I shall look for the Schedule of the Deeds in the hands of the Mortgagee etc. I observe what you say as to the Cornish Ores & < Sparrs > for your Trouble about which I am much obliged to you Mrs. Ord of Broomdikes’ Bond for £1000 not included in the inclosed account will not be paid till May.
