Sir John Trevelyan Barot. Newcastle 27th Janry 1782 Half Moon Street Piccadilly London Dear Sir I received your Letter of the 15th instant & Note the Contents. Mrs Swinburn has Administer’d & I have desired Mr. Heron to get a Copy of the late Mr. Swinburns’s Will which with the Purchase Deeds of Longwitton are to be laid before Mr. Fawcett for his opinion from which we shall Judge how far you are Compellable to pay the £10000 or any part of it. I fear you will be obliged to pay It. Mr Turner called on me the other day to consult with respect to some small Allowances which he thought it would be adviseable to make some of your Tenants some others wanted considerable Abatement of Rent wch. we did not think proper to comply with of which Mr Turner said he would acquaint you. Robert Scott, one of your Annuitants of £12 died 25th inst. I have inclosed you Bell Cookson & Cos Bill on Castell & Co for Two Hundred Pounds for which you will please to send me a Receipt & direct to me at Mrs. Blacketts Ripon Yorkshire. When you want the £750 which you mention for the Purchase of the Perpetuity of a Living please let me know & it shall be provided for you Sir Mattw.
