Sir I am favoured with your letters of the 16th inst the latter inclosing an extract from the late Sir Thos Blackett’s Will so far as relates to the real Estate and the Lead Mines etc. I have accordingly given the necessary directions to the several Lead Stewards; as Mr Beaumont is Executor and Residuatory Legatee & in consequence intitled to the Stock of Lead in hand, the Ore that was wrought to <herwith> the 10th inst as well as the Book Debts & Ballance of Cash. I should imagine that it will not be necessary at present to keep a separate Cash Account. The Stewards have directions to separate the Ore that has & may be wrought after the 10 inst & to keep a destinct Account of the charges of Working and Smelting the same Mr Heron is of Opinion that from the Extract of the Will that he has seen that the Courts must be held in the Names of Thos Richr Beaumont & Diana his Wife; but he wishes to have a Copy of the Will as soon as convenient to you, & we are both of Opinion that the sooner Mr Beaumont comes into the North the better; I write by this Post to Mr Tweedale & inclose a Bill on Castell & Co for £4000 on Accot of Thos R Beaumont Esqr Ex[ecut]or of Sir Thos Blackett Bart I am Sir Your’s etc J.E.B
although this and Blackett's subsequent letter of 23rd July are clearly addressed to 'John' Skelton, the recipient was in fact Mark Skelton. Blackett had perhaps misinterpreted Skelton's scrawled 'M' as 'Jno' on his inbound letter
