<Sd> Deness Esqr sent under cover Newcastle 8th Decemr 1792 to the Right Honble The Earl of Pomfret Easton Towester Northamptonshire Sir I am favoured with your letter of the 3d Inst & observe the Contents _ I perfectly agree with you that it would be for the interest of the principal Lead Proprietors that a Communication should be Kept up amongst them for the purpose of supporting the price of Lead, it has been my endeavour to accomplish this but without effect for I have been undersold frequently at Stockton & Chester & you must be very sensible that a considerable Lead Proprietor must subject himself to great disadvantage by strictly adhering to a Resolution that may be come to, when the smaller Proprietors, or some of them, may not be so scrupulous I have frequently corresponded with Messrs Wilkinsons of Chesterfield and other Lead proprietors & ever since I have been concerned for my late relations Sir Walter & Sir Thos Blackett & for Mr Beaumont it has been my endeavour to support the price of Lead; I sold a considerable Quantity in the Spring at £19-15 & £20 per Fo[dde]r in the Autumn another large Quantity at £19-10 per Fo[dde]r the troubles on the Continent & some other circumstances induced me to make some drop in a parcel that I sold last Month I shall not have any Quantity at Market for some months the price that I ask at present is £19 per Fo[dde]r I shall at all times be ready to give you the best information in my power respecting the Price of Lead I am etc J.E.B
