Dear Sir	I am favoured with your Lre [Letter] of the 13th inst and observe the Contents; I think that you have misunderstood me as to my writing to you in Town; I wrote to Mr Beaumont and acquainted him with the Conversation which I had with you respecting the Lead Trade, and I imagined that you would call on him and acquaint him with your sentiments on the Subject; I have given that Matter full considerat[io]n & am of Opinion that in the Situation which the Lead Trade is at present owing to the War (which prevents the demand from abroad) that the sending a quantity of Lead to the London Markett for the purpose of opposing the Principal Buyers, and the entering into any engagement by the Principal Lead Owners for the purpose of supporting a Price, is not an advisable Measure at this Time; for a Trade cannot be forced and a price mentioned when the quantity at Markett is more than sufficient for the demand, I look on it in this light and cannot recommend the Measure that you propose to Mr Beaumont

I am etc Jno E Blackett

P.S. The Lead Company’s Office is in Saint Martin’s Lane.
