Messrs Ransom Morland & Hammersly Newcastle Decr 23d 1794 Bankers London Gentlemn The present scarsity & Consequent high price of Rye makes it necessary to procure a quantity from aBroad for the Workmen of Coll Beaumonts Lead Mines to prevent any disturbance taking place which otherwise would unavoidably be the Consequence in the present scarsity to avoid which Peril I have wrote to Messrs Burrows & Son at Hamburgh to purchase & Ship for this Port Fifty Lasts of Rye & draw on you Gentlemn for the Amount which Bill or Bill[s] I must desire you will duly Honor & on your advising me of the same I shall remit you the Amount _ I am going Tomorrow to have a Meeting with the Miners & at my return I shall acquaint Coll Beaumont with the Business I am etc J.E.B
