Sir Thomas Blackett Barot Newcastle 15th Decemr 1777 Bretton Yorkshire Dear Sir I am favoured with your Letter of the 13th instant & observe it will not be convenient for you to be here till after the 20th of January. I shall certainly be at Home the 26th & hope you will take a Bed at my House. I think two Papers will be Sufficient to advertise the Livings but Mr Wilson desires to see the Advertisement of which I have acquainted Mr Bell. I have seen Mr Trevelyan, he desires his Compliments and is much obliged to you for your offer but has no Thoughts of making a purchase in Newcastle. Inclosed you have a Bond to Dorothy Rickarby for £1500 which you will please to execute and return me. Mr Wilson mentioned that the usual Procuration must be paid the Attorney. I think this charge may be avoided for the future for I do not see the Necessity of employing a Person of the Law on this Occasion. The Leadmine Stewards have sent me their Accounts by which I find there will be more Money wanted to make the Pays on your Account from the 14th of February to the 30th June last than I expected as you’ll see by the Account below; the Balance of which I must take up at the Bank.
