Sir Thomas Blackett Bart. Newcastle . Feby. 18th . 1785 Bretton - Yorkshire Dear Sir Mr Christr. Blackett has lately entered into the Gunpowder Trade & apply’s to you by this Post to request the favour of you to take a Part of the Gunpowder for your Lead Mines from him, It will be of the same Quality & Price as that you have from others, & as Mr Blackett purchases your Lead for the Freemen’s & Preston, if you have no Objection, you will be equally as well served by him. On the 3rd inst. Mr Geo. Anderson paid me £300 more on Account, so there now remains only £1000 on his Bond to you. Our Weather continues very Severe, yesterday & this day we have had great falls of Snow with the Wind at N. E. Your Lead Stewards were with me for Subsistance for the Workmen the 25th Ulto. there was at that time little or no Alteration in the State of the Mines. I am etc John E Blackett
